Summer News, A Wine Dinner & Upcoming Farm to Fork Week

It’s hard to believe it’s already the second week of August, we hope that summer has been treating you well! For those that don’t follow us on Facebook we have exciting news to share. We’ve had the honor of being written up in three different magazines over the past month! In early July Coral had a feature article written about her in Edible San Diego, which if you’re not familiar is the go to magazine for San Diego Farm To Table foodies. Then in the August 2nd issue of San Diego CityBeat there was a wonderfully written article that perfectly captured the essence of what we do at Garden Kitchen. Both of these are currently out in hard copy around the city if you want to snag one. To top it off, we were pleasantly surprised to find a “Best of San Diego” article from San Diego Magazine listing us as best “Off-the-Beaten Path Fine Dining.” For over two years our one and only goal has been to make and serve honest food from our humble kitchen, using the best of what is available locally and try to make all the local hard working farmers proud, so it’s quite an honor for people to recognize this.

With September already approaching, we want to remind you about Farm To Fork week happening Saturday September 9th – Sunday September 17th. While Farm to Fork itself is a larger movement, the twice yearly Farm to Fork Week here in San Diego is a chance to support local chefs and restaurants that have made a commitment to support local farms and purveyors. It’s also a perfect time to try new restaurants at affordable prices. Garden Kitchen will be offering a 3 course, $40 prix fixe option in addition to our a la carte menu.

We are excited to announce our next Sunday Night Wine Dinner featuring wine from Chuparosa Vineyards in Ramona, happening on the last day of Farm to Fork week, Sunday September 17, at 5pm. Chuparosa is one of the wineries that we have worked with since the beginning, but what will make this dinner extra special is that we will be showcasing produce from Agua Dulce Farm in Chula Vista. With the wine coming from just about 20 miles away and the majority of the night’s produce coming from even closer, this is a true local farm to table dinner! There will be 7 courses with 7 wine pairings for $125 including tax and tip. Call the restaurant to secure your reservation.

A quick update for those that purchased Rainbow Cupcakes during Pride Week, we raised over $500 for The San Diego LGBT Community Center! Thank you for your continued support. We will be doing a similar fundraiser in October for breast cancer awareness!

Finally, we want to remind you that we will be taking a week off for summer break, closed Tuesday August 29th – Saturday September 2nd, reopening on Tuesday after Labor Day. The lovely summer weather has left us very busy all summer so remember you can make your dinner reservations on our website or call us at 619-431-5755.

Thanks for your continued support, and see you soon for your next Garden Kitchen meal.

Do you serve alcoholic beverages & if so, do you offer a happy hour daily?
