Happy New Year from Garden Kitchen! We hope you’ve started 2016 relaxed and well rested.
Looking back at 2015 we have a lot to be thankful for. We could not have made it as far as we have without the amazing support of the Rolando community and all of our regular customers. The incredible support through social media has also been amazing, we are near 800 followers on Facebook and thanks to your amazing reviews on Yelp we are ranked 5 stars and have spread our reach to broader San Diego. To be able to put food on the table for such appreciative customers is truly an honor.
With all the rain we’ve had recently it appears the predictions of El Niño and a wet winter have come to fruition, so we want to let you know that we are finally in the process of getting our front patio covered! It will not interfere with any of our regular hours, and we expect that it will be completed by the time we open for business on Tuesday January 19.
We will be offering a $30 prix fixe dinner option in addition to our regular daily changing a la carte menu. This offer will be available Tuesday, January 19 through Saturday, January 23 and will consist of your choice of appetizer, soup or salad along with a choice of entree and choice of dessert. Reservations are encouraged and the $30 prix fixe option cannot be combined with any other discounted offer.
With Valentine’s Day falling on Sunday this year we will be open for a special brunch, 9am – 1pm. We will have sweetheart specials all weekend, starting Friday the 12th through our February 14th Sunday Funday Brunch. Be sure to call ahead for reservations at 619-431-5755, as we expect a busy weekend.
At Garden Kitchen we pride ourselves on our sustainability, and we love finding ways to be better each day. Recently we stopped using plastic straws in favor of paper, we give away our used fryer oil to someone who converts it to biodiesel, all our fruit and vegetable scraps are picked up and used for compost, and you will never see our to-go food in styrofoam containers. We use eco paper containers and the plastic clamshells are recyclable through the city curbside pickup.
Most importantly, we love to support our local farmers! We get our organic produce from Suzie’s Farm, and create our daily menus to highlight their seasonal offerings. California is known for its wine, but how many know about San Diego and Temecula wines? All of the wines on our menu are local, and we encourage you to give them a try. We’re currently featuring wines from South Coast Winery in Temecula, Mesa Grande Corazon in Santa Ysabel (solar powered and 100% sustainable!) and Chuparosa Vineyards in Ramona, and we’ll be adding more soon! Did you know there are over 30 wineries just in the Ramona and Julian area alone? San Diego craft beer is a no brainer, we’re currently featuring Pizza Port Brewing and will be bringing Alpine Brewing to the menu soon!
Thanks again for your support!
