Thorn St Beer in Cans & Pride Week Fundraiser

Posted Jul 08,2017 0 comments

We hope you had a great Fourth of July! With the warm weather now here to stay, we’ve put the fans back up and added two fans to our side patio to help stay cool during Happy Hour, a perfect time for an ice cold beverage. Of course we have our staple Benchmark Brewery  beers, including their newest release Benchmark Blond, but we also now have beer from Cerveceria Insurgente in Tijuana which is a nice addition to complement our Baja wines. With four whites and two rosés on the menu, in addition to our selection of reds, there are plenty of good options to enjoy on a sunny afternoon. If you haven’t tried our signature Sangria, pitchers are only $20 from 3-5pm.

Next week we will be celebrating San Diego Pride Week, Tuesday July 11 – Saturday July 15. We will be selling Rainbow Cupcakes all week and 100% of proceeds will be donated to The San Diego LGBT Community Center. Our chef Spencer donates her baking time for this, and Garden Kitchen donates the ingredients. Last year we raised $420, please help us surpass this goal!

We mentioned last newsletter that based on feedback from a group of our faithful supporters we’ve started a monthly “Rainbow Happy Hour”, during which we’re extending our happy hour specials until 6pm. This event was created especially for our LGBTQ community, friends and family, though it should go without saying that all are always welcome at Garden Kitchen. The next Rainbow Happy Hour event will be next Tuesday, July 11th, 3pm to 6pm.

Just announced! Wednesday, July 12 we’ll have Thorn Street Brewery joining us to launch their first beers in cans, which means you can enjoy their beer with dinner! We’ll be one of the first in San Diego to bring their cans to menu, with four different styles available. The menu that night will still be a la carte, however each entree will be with a suggested Thorn St beer pairing. Reservations this night are highly recommended.

As you know we source the majority of our produce from local farms, and something we highly encourage is to visit and support them. These farmers have made it their priority to grow clean food for our local community, so taking time to see what they do is an afternoon well spent. Currently we are directly working with Dickinson Farm, Agua Dulce Farm, Wild Willow Farm and Stehly Farms. We suggest you call or contact before visiting as public hours vary.

Summer weather has left us very busy on weekends, please remember you can make dinner reservations on our website or call us at 619-431-5755. Thanks for your continued support, and see you soon for your next Garden Kitchen meal.
